The impact of Facebook in our lives

I haven't had too much time lately so I only want to share a piece of shoking news I read today. I'll copy and paste:

A 22-year-old ex-mother from Jacksonville, Florida has pleaded guilty to shaking her three-month-old son to death because he interrupted her while she was playing FarmVille.
The "social" game is one of Facebook's most popular, and has been known to sink its claws into the brains of housewives around America. Alexandra V. Tobias was clearly one of the more addicted, so much so that she took offense to her own son needing his mother while she was busy pretending to pull turnips out of the ground.
Tobias says that she shook the baby, smoked a cigarette to calm down, then went back to shaking him. She suggests he might have hit his head while she was doing so. Due to state guidelines, she could be in prison for 25 to 50 years.
It never ceases to be terrifying that absolutely anybody is allowed to have a baby. We have rigorous background checks for those who want to work with kids, but you can squirt out a child for whatever reason you like and essentially treat it however you want. Kind of scary, especially with maniacs like this in the world.

Now, I'd like you to know your opinion about the impact of all these social networks in people's lives and to specially to try to answer the folliwing:

How could a non-violent game could cause such a violent act?
What might be the reasons behind this mother for commiting such a crime?
How do you think a person can tell the difference between having a hobbie and having an obsession?

Hope you have a good non-violent-facebook-caused week :)

Don't be afraid of writing

This blog was created for you to express anything you want. I will be posting useful links, texts or grammatical explanations for you to reinforce wahatever we see in class, and short articles, photos, etc. for you to have a topic for opinions and discussions.

Do not worry if you think you'll make mistakes, those will be corrected at an appropriate moment.

I will also be asking you to send me or personally give me texts so that I can post them here and so your partners can comment on them.

You are definitely free to share anything you want too (remember there will be very young students reading this, so try to recommend things that everyone can see).

The idea is to improve our reading and writing skills,  to increase our vocabulary and to create an interesting space we would want  to visit whenever we turn on our computers.
